Playing Ketchup

Friday's Lunch looked like this:
It was leftover day, and leftovers were good. Pamela's gnocchi was tasted just wonderful, despite its missing the gnocchi perfection point. More left over ratatouille, an additional green pepper, left over ranch and Parmesan cookies made a great salad. I believe my additional cost for the day was $2 for the green pepper. It was big and beautiful.

I also attended the farmer's markets this weekend.
While Big Time Grand Army Plaza Market on Saturday resulted in the purchase of a T shirt and Grape Juice (AMAZING). I didn't buy any food for the week, as my cash flow ran dry.

Sunday with cash in hand:
I picked up a butternut squash that was $4, and I am quite excited to find a recipe. My sisters love to make what they call Butternut Squash Squares, and while I never have made them or eaten them, I'm told they are everyone's favorite. They might show up in lunch this week. Get excited.

I also got some fruit, apples and tomatoes abound at the markets.

I've already made some pesto with the basil I bought. I'd estimate the cost of the pesto at $4. It has basil, olive oil, pine nuts, and cheese.

I considered purchasing some grass fed meat, but a 4 lb chicken was $16, and that just seems ridiculous to me. I mean, you can get an organic cooked chicken at fairway for $7, how can this be the cost at the farmers market? This was my first peek at meat at the markets, but COME ON! $16! I was shocked.

I'd love to babble more, but I have to meet my good friend Phil for brunch. We're going to the Sunburnt Cow where for $18 we get an entree and unlimited cocktails. I heart NYC.
