I am in San Diego with my family, so that usually means I don't spend as much money because I'm at my sister's house, so I eat her food, which I don't pay for. Except in the metaphorical sense.
So I'm not really sure where the next few weeks of my bloggin will go, but I'll try to entertain.
Yesterday we spent Shabbas at Jessie's where Lana was in charge of a dozen high school kids having a leadership/bonding day. I was on food duty.
The menu was prearranged by the cookies in my sister oreo, and I was happy to play prep chef.
First on the list: Pasta Salad
The pasta was already made, and to it I added cucumbers, bell pepper, feta, olives, tomatoes, artichoke hearts, and a dressing also already made.
I almost forgot the pine nuts, but I remembered at the last minute. You know how I feel about pine nuts.
I also cut up some fruit, put out hummus and pita chips, and baked some premade spanikopita.
There were no complaints.
For dessert there was a lemon cake from costco, which everyone LOVES. I heard about how good it was when I got picked up from the airport the evening prior. And while lemon desserts are not my fav, this cake rocked.
Dinner was a little lower maintenence.
Salad with cucumbers, avocado, tomatoes, and a olive oil balsamic dressing I made.
Squash squares made to serve the way they were intended. In a nice 9x13x2 pan in pretty little squares.
Bread with spinach artichoke dip, and more cake.
The budget was $40. Brought to you by Costco.
*Pasta salad and squash squares not included.
xoxo
