Last week is gone, and I haven't posted once, and so here I am now, doing my best to remember what I cooked and how much it cost me to do it.

As I stroll down memory lane I remember that I was sick as a dog on Monday. So I made nothing and ate very little all day. I couldn't cook for Tuesday, but I was dragging myself to work, and I needed to bring something. What could I bring that was so so so easy that I could handle throwing it together in a short amount of time in the morning before work.
The answer was... SMOOTHIE!!!
Milk
Banana
frozen Blueberries
Greek Yogurt

Pamela made a mmm noise when she drank it. High five for me!

By the end of the day I was feeling tons better, and so I was ready to make roasted cauliflower with cheese sauce from Everyday Food magazine. I had bought a cauliflower at the farmers market. For $3.50 I got a lovely cauliflower. I've since seen them a lot cheaper at the grocery store. Lesson: farmers markets dont = cheap, they sometimes just = interesting and flavorful.
I made bechamel sauce which was new for me. Butter and onions cooked, and I added flour, and I was suppose to let that sit, but I added in the milk right away, and these kinds of mistakes can ruin the texture of a sauce. But everything ended up ok. After some heating and cooling I added $4 of cheese, and put it all on top of the roasted cauliflower. It was pretty amazing. $8 ish dollars worth of ingredients and 5 servings worth.

Here it is pictured with Pamela's lovely pears and asparagus with a blueberry muffin, also lovely.

Thursday I was on my own, and I ate the last serving of Cauliflower, as Pamela worked off site.

For Friday I made us some grilled cheese sandwhiches. Simple, easy, cheap. The whole loaf of bread was under $4. I used some pepper jack cheese, $4 for the block I used 1/4 of, and a tomato $1. The reheated sandwich was tasty, and although the bread had lost its crunch, it was still mighty good.

Today, being Monday, I have just made a lasagne for tomorrow. For $9. Mozzarella, cottage cheese, tomato sauce, and noodles. It is my mother recipe and it is delicious. I had dinner, my roommate had a slice, and I have plenty to feed the troops tomorrow.
