The Cheese Plate Effect/Creme de la Creme

A couple of friends of mine (Joanna and Sarah) and I coined the term "Cheese Plate Effect" last night to acknowledge the joie de vivre one feels from sharing excellent cheese and wine with excellent company. A lively discussion also ensued over whether spending money on wine and cheese plates is antithetical to the Ladies Who Lunch philosophy or to sensible budgeting in general, to which I said (and say) nay! Nay! It is to verily create more opportunity for cheese plate moments that we bring our lunches, so that we can spend our precious dollars in ways more stirring than sitting at one's desk and eating repeat takeout. Nonetheless, perhaps a cheese plate throw down will be in short order to prove that is can also be done on the cheap with just as much class.

Speaking of class, Caleb brought creme brulee today, complete with kitchen torch for creating the requisite sugar crust. (With which I was a bit heavy handed, and my crust was
nearly hard candy.) Nice move, though I cannot help but notice that Caleb appears on this blog with some frequency... Blog slut? You be the judge.

I also promis
ed Carrie that I would give her a shout out for bringing her coffee daily instead of submitting to the Starbucks tyranny. You go girl! Caffeinate for cheap! Bean juice!

My lunches have been sad for a week without Eva, but she returns tomorrow!
