Dear Readers, Tour took it out of me. Long hours, long days, short nights. But I did not forget about you. I took pictures of the glorious things we ate, eager to tell you all about it. Financially, I tried to be frugal, and if you don’t count the beautiful boots, I did not overspend my per diem, which is really the ultimate goal.
I flew to Germany separate from the rest of the company, which was a mixed blessing. Solitude and loneliness, it is really about whether you like being alone or not. I missed my connecting flight and had to hang out at Heathrow for an extra 5 hours, so while I enjoyed being alone, it could have been nice to have company. The airline was kind enough to foot the bill for some food, so I decided to try the traditional English breakfast they offered. Which was mostly gross. The beans and toast were ok, but the mushrooms and tomato really tasted like feet.
It makes a nice picture at least. I perused the shops, which were awesome: Gucci, Prada, who could ask for more? And the time passed by. I met up with the gang in Neuss and we had planned to go to Düsseldorf for beers (food would also happen, but we had our priorities straight).
The Germany method for keeping track of your beer intake is quite ingenious. They mark a tally on the coasters. I love it.

So we drank beers, and we ordered a monster plate of bread and meat and cheese (note the plate of cheese, meat, and bread, it will be a theme). There were a few veggies, some eggs, and pickles. It was amazing. I think we even impressed the servers by finishing the smorgasbord.
